Anoushka Shankar

Anoushka Shakar, one of the American and British sitar artist. She was the youngest and first woman to receive the British House of Commons Shield she's had 9 Grammy Awards nominations and was the first musician of Indian of Indian descent to perform live and to serve as a presenter at the awards ceremony. Anoushka is the rising star in Indian sitar. She is Ravi Shankar's student, and the daughter. She was born in London in 1982. In during her early years, she swam her time between London New Delhi. Her first performance took place in New Delhi when she was just 13 years old. Then she relocated into Encinitas CA where she graduated from High School with honours in 1999. Even though she's very young, Anouskha is an accomplished performer and recording. Her father was with her in many performances for many years. In 1998, she debuted her debut solo album Anourag. Two years later she released the Grammy nomination-winning Live in Carnegie Hall. Alongside performing at all of the largest venues as well, she has an extensive stage presence.
